New Website!

Over the past week or so I have been working on building a website for our Boykins. It still has a few kinks (missing pics and pedigrees on a few of our dogs)...but for the most part it is done. I plan to add more dog pics and testimonials over time. Also, I will start using the "Current Litters" page on the website to update everyone on how the pups are doing and to post pics and videos. So from now on I will no longer be updating the blog. You can see the new site at:

Also, Gabby is in labor tonight! I will update the website either tomorrow morning or night and let everyone know how it goes!

Our Next Litter

Puppy Pick Ups Tomorrow!

We're looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow, and I know you're all looking forward to seeing the pups! If you have any trouble finding the house, please call my mom Earline at (256) 739-0624 (home) or (256) 962-1596 (cell).

Please keep in mind that we have never handled the pick-ups quite like this, but we're hoping that everything will go smoothly. We have some really great pups out there, so I know you'll all be happy with whichever one you choose!

I decided that a video would be better than pics to show how the pups are progressing. Sorry for the bad camera work, but I think you'll enjoy it :) You may notice that there is one pup in the bunch that is much smaller than the others and has a large white spot. He's the runt of the litter and will not be able to be registered as a Boykin due to the white. I just wanted to let all of you who have a pup reserved know that we did not count him when we decided how many people could reserve a pup. So everyone will have a normal sized healthy Boykin waiting for them this weekend :)

Directions for those coming from the south:

-Exit at 304 on I-65 North, keep to the right after you exit.

-Turn left on County Road 222 at the second red light (should be about 3/4 mile from the exit), there is a Premier Bank on the corner there.

-Go around 4 miles. You will come to Grandview Bridge (the first bridge you'll cross after crossing the interstate). About 50 yards after the bridge, take a right onto County Road 421 (there's a big black sign that says Bethsadia Baptist Church)

-Go ~3/4 Mile, our house is on the left. We have a big field out front lined with pine trees, and a big red barn. The driveway entrance has 6 big Bradford Pears. Mailbox number is 903.

I managed to take a few pics of the pups this afternoon, but apparently I arrived at nap time. The pups still spend most of the day sleeping, but hopefully in the next few days I can get some action shots!

Puppy Pick Up Information, Updated

All of Jenny's pups have been spoken for. If you'd like to get on our list for the next litter (due in mid-September) please email me at capnsmitty@gmail.com

We will start letting Jenny's pups go to new homes on Saturday, September 11th. We are doing the pick outs on a first come, first served basis. This is the best way to make it fair for those who are coming from out-of-state and can't make an extra trip just to pick out a pup. Please plan on arriving no earlier than 10am. I will post directions to our house in a couple of weeks.

Also, I'm going to start posting more pics soon, I promise :D In the next week or so the pups will really start getting bigger and moving around. Right now they are still laying around mostly, and it doesn't make for very good pics.

Here is a pic of Jenny's litter taken a few minutes ago. You can't tell much about them now, but she definitely has some healthy pups!
Also, we have decided to email everyone on the list about reserving a pup (instead of calling). I have already started the process, but it will take time to get in touch with everyone.

Puppies Born!

The pups were born yesterday early in the morning. Jenny ended up having 8 boys and 3 girls. Mom will wait a few days before she begins going down the list calling everyone. We will go down the list, in chronological order, giving you the chance to reserve a pup. We ask for a $200 deposit on reserved pups.

Whenever all pups have been spoken for, we will contact anyone remaining on the list and give you the opportunity to be placed on the list for our next litter.

Just wanted to update everyone and let you know that Jenny is definitely pregnant, and we're expecting the pups to be born in the first few days of August.

We currently have no pups available, but we are expecting a litter between Jenny and Gauge to be born sometime in early August. This is our first breeding of these two. Both are wavy, attractive Boykins and we are expecting beautiful pups!

Congratulations to these two on winning the Boykin Spaniel Society Puppy National Champion this year! Max comes from a previous breeding of Romi and Deets. In addition to BSS Puppy Champ, Max has also earned a Completion in the BSS Nationals and the BSS Upland Nationals in the novice division. Quite a list of accomplishments for such a young dog!

Mom has already started going down the list calling, so if she was unable to get in touch with you please call her back as soon as possible. We have a really large list this time, so it's possible that we will not have enough pups for everyone who got on the list. Once all the pups are spoken for, Mom will still call you and see if you'd like to remain on our list for future litters.

Hello!
My name is Earline Smith. I raise Boykin Spaniels in Cullman Alabama. My family and I received our first Boykin, Cocoa, from a friend of ours. We just fell in love with this amazing breed. Now we have seven Boykins that are all a part of the family. My goal as a breeder is to raise quality, well socialized puppies with excellent pedigrees and hunting backgrounds. Every afternoon I walk with all the dogs in the pasture behind my house. I bring along plenty of tennis balls for them to retrieve while we walk. They spend most of their days romping and roaming in the woods and around the pond. In the summer my dogs love to take a dip in the pool. I love each of my brown dogs!
